The Interdisciplinary Research Network for Economists and Philosophers, or IRNEP, is a network set up to encourage interdisciplinary research between Economists and Philosophers. The founding ethos is that both disciplines can learn from one another; that being able to successfully integrate ideas, methods and criticisms from either will only enrich the work that is done. In order for research to have an impact past its academic comfort zone clear dissemination of work to other disciplines is necessary. Our hope is that this network will bring together researchers from either discipline to enable collaborations to take place, and benefit the research environment.
Core to the network will be the annual conferences we aim to run. These conferences will embody the aims of the network, and bring together researchers and academics to present and discuss their work. We are currently organising our third IRNEP conference, at the University of York, on the 23rd-24th of September, see our website for further details. Our first conference took place at the University of Reading, the 5th and 6th of October, 2015, while our second conference was held at the University of York, on the 3rd and 4th of October, 2016.
